What We Do
Engineering Services
XXTreme Threading Tubular Technology delivers precision engineering services across Oil & Gas, product development, and advanced technical consulting. Every engagement is backed by decades of hands-on field and design experience.
Core Service
Threading Consulting & Inspection
We design rotary-shouldered and premium casing and tubing connections engineered beyond standard API performance. From drillpipe to production tubing, every connection is taken from concept through analysis, prototyping, qualification, and gauging.
The connection is the weakest link in any tubular string. It sees the highest stress concentrations, carries the sealing duty, and fails first under torque, tension, pressure, and fatigue. Our work makes that link stronger than the pipe body's limits require.
Drillpipe Connections
Rotary-shouldered connections engineered beyond API 7-2 performance: double-shoulder geometries that raise torsional capacity 30-60% over single-shoulder equivalents, optimized thread forms and cold-root radii that extend fatigue life in high-dogleg horizontal and extended-reach wells.
Casing Connections
Premium and semi-premium designs across the clearance spectrum: threaded-and-coupled connections with metal-to-metal seals and reverse-angle torque shoulders for gas-tight service; semi-flush and flush-joint designs for tight-clearance liners and multilateral programs.
Tubing Connections
Production tubing lives with pressure cycling, corrosive fluids, and repeated workover trips. Our tubing connections combine gas-tight metal seals with robust thread forms that tolerate multiple make-and-break cycles, in standard and CRA alloys, for conventional production through HPHT and sour service.
- API and premium connection consulting
- Thread form design and geometry analysis
- Gauging and inspection support
- Failure analysis and root cause investigation
- Licensing of proprietary EVOLV connection family
Product Development
Custom Tubular Product Design
From concept through commercialization, we guide the full product development lifecycle for tubular and downhole products. Our process combines SolidWorks CAD, FEA simulation, and real-world field validation to deliver solutions that perform.
- SolidWorks 3D modeling and design
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Prototype development and testing
- Patent development and IP strategy
- Commercialization planning
Technical Capability
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
FEA is core to everything we design and we also offer it as a standalone service. Whether you are evaluating a competitor's connection, investigating a downhole failure, or qualifying a design for a specific well program, XXTreme Threading provides connection-specialist FEA that general-purpose engineering firms cannot match.
- Make-up simulation: thread engagement, interference stresses, torque-turn response, and shoulder contact through final position
- Combined-load envelope analysis: connection response across the full von Mises / API 5C3 design ellipse including tension, compression, internal and external pressure, bending, and torque
- Seal integrity assessment: metal-to-metal seal contact pressure, contact energy, and leak-path evaluation under load cycling and thermal transients
- Stress loading analysis: static stress distribution through threads, seals, and shoulders under worst-case service loads, identifying peak stress concentrations and margins against yield
- Cyclical stress loading and fatigue: alternating-stress analysis, stress-amplification factors (SAF) at thread roots, and predicted fatigue life for high-dogleg and cyclic-service wells
- Galling and over-torque studies: surface pressure mapping to predict galling risk and establish safe make-up windows
- Failure analysis support: reconstruction of downhole loading against as-built geometry to identify root cause
Deliverables include full analysis reports with model assumptions, load cases, plots, and engineering conclusions suitable for internal review, customer qualification packages, or third-party audit.
Our Engineering Process
From Requirements to Field Support
Every connection we design follows a rigorous, end-to-end engineering process from initial well requirements through manufacturing control and field deployment.
Requirements Definition
Well architecture, loads (tension, compression, torque, internal/external pressure, bending), temperature, fluids, running practices, and clearance constraints.
Connection Design
Thread form, taper, lead, seal geometry, and shoulder architecture engineered as a system; tolerance stack-up analysis to guarantee interchangeability across licensed manufacturing.
Finite Element Analysis
Axisymmetric and 3-D FEA of make-up, combined-load envelopes, seal contact pressure and energy, and galling risk before any steel is cut.
Prototyping & Physical Testing
Machined prototypes, make-and-break trials, and full-scale qualification to API RP 5C5 / ISO 13679 (up to CAL IV) for casing and tubing, and API RP 7G / 7-2 for rotary-shouldered designs.
Gauging & Manufacturing Control
Proprietary gauge design and certification, machining specifications, and licensing packages so any qualified threading facility can cut the connection identically.
Field Support
Running procedures, torque-turn acceptance criteria, failure analysis, and re-cut/repair specifications through the life of the string.
Why Proprietary Threads
Built for Wells That Standard Connections Cannot Survive
API 8-round, buttress, and standard rotary-shouldered connections remain excellent general-purpose designs but they were not engineered for today's laterals, HPHT completions, or gas storage and CCUS integrity demands.
- Gas-tight sealing via engineered metal-to-metal seals, independent of thread compound
- Higher torque capacity for rotating liners, casing drilling, and long laterals
- Connection efficiency approaching 100% of pipe-body rating in tension and compression
- Fatigue performance proven for high-dogleg rotation, not just static loads
- Faster rig-floor make-up with fewer rejects, cross-threading incidents, and downhole failures
